After the Tsunami
The Island of Phuket is fast returning to normal life, and 90% of the hotels are operating as they did prior to the Tsunami.

Room Facilities:

After the Tsunami
The beach had been cleared of debris since the end of December and restored back to its former state, if not better. Beach decks are readily available for use. The gardens have not been heavily damaged by the waters but new turf is being laid. Plants have been transplanted from other parts of the resort.

The swimming pool was cleaned and refilled with water and has been usable since the end of December. The pool bar is also back to normal and serving the well known fruit cocktails and delicious snacks. Of the 23 rooms damaged, all are being repaired and will be ready for accommodation by February.

Of the five restaurants, two were damaged and will need to be rebuilt. During this time, the restaurants will be surrounded by a 2.4 meter high boarded wall to cover the work in progress. The other three restaurants were not damaged by the waters and have remained open for business since day one.

After the Tsunami
In light of the recent tidal waves which hit Phuket on 26 Dec 2004, Laguna Phuket and Laguna Beach Resort have been spared the more serious damage since it was protected from a direct hit by the headland to its South. All F&B outlets were opened since 27 Dec 2004. Of the 3 swimming pools, the upper pool was not effected. All are now open for use. Beach has been cleaned up since 28 Dec 2004 and only 14 guestrooms were out of order.
