Aqaba (pronounced 'Akabar') is a great resort for both exploring Jordan and relaxing by the Red Sea, providing a mix of culture and sunshine. Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea are all in easy reach from Aqaba.
Petra, the most famous attraction in Jordan, is a truly unique place, a city completely carved out of the sandstone rock. More then 800 structures have been carved out of the rock, including tombs and a bathhouse. Bedouin people still live in the area and provide trips on their camels and horses. Petra is also home to an 8000 year old Stone Age village that has been excavated and a Roman fortress.
Aqaba boasts excellent scuba diving sites with spectacular views both above and below the water. The Red Sea is abundant in coral gardens and the water has excellent visibility, whilst above the surface the resort is surrounded by mountains that change colour throughout the day. Aqaba is a great resort for winter sun, with its inviting clear waters, sandy beaches and perfect temperature.

  • Day 6 to 7: Drive to Wadi Rum en route to Petra, visiting the location where scenes from the famous film Lawrence of Arabia were shot. Continue to Petra for 2 nights at the next hotel.
